Field Trip #10 – Zilker Park

After being sick and having to stay indoors, we were ready to go back out into Austin’s mild fall weather. We chose to be close to home so that we didn’t risk any relapses. We went to one of the oldest parks in Austin. You might know it as the place where they hold Austin City Limits Music Festival, but we know it for its train, great playground (seen in the movie Sharkboy and Lavagirl), natural springs to swim in (Barton Springs), and an amazing hike and bike trail around Town Lake. It was one of those days when you love where you live. Everyone uses the hike and bike trail. It’s shady, downtown, and lots of fun. We chose to bike it. We also enjoyed the free water they provide to all who use the trail. If you happen to come to Austin, Zilker is one place you must not miss.

Yeah. We’re here and we’ve got no swim suits.

A little history. (Click to read.)

The protected salamander.

And wildlife is not only viewable on the signs.

And Moses wanted to touch it.

Bike/hike the trails. Enjoy the view.

From under the bridge.

Yep. We’re in Austin.
