During one or more of the Wednesday afternoons with a huge group of homeschoolers at Pfluger Park, someone introduced Tamara to one of Austin’s hidden wonders. Mayfield Park is near downtown Austin on the edge of Town Lake near Laguna Gloria. On the west side of Mopac and North of the Colorado River, which forms the newly renamed Lady Bird Lake, Mayfield is a luxurious stroll though a pristinely preserved area of Texas. The hope is to help visitors see what the area would have been like during the early days of Texas settlement. It was a fascinating hike.
