Field Trip #11 – Elgin Christmas Tree Farm

Some field trips have a practical side to them. This was one. I mean, except for the rare curmudgeon, miser, or Festivus practitioner, who doesn’t place the most recognized of holiday implements in the corner of a prominent room?

The trip to Elgin, Texas was very quick since we live in a nearby town. The staff was helpful, friendly, and courteous. A brief ride out to the trees started the journey. Some pointers on the use of the saw. A quick stroll around the grounds. Tamara, Judah, and Tabitha fairly quickly dispatched our tree of choice (and a brilliant one at that). Judah and crew drug the tree a bit, and a nice gentleman helped to bind and tie the tree to the van.

We’re here.

Which one…which one?

In action.

Tabitha gives it a go.

Triumph! Victory!

A real lumberjack.

Yep. A true man of lumber.

Judah and Moses lend their moral support.
